The ingredients needed to make Chilli Chicken:
- Get 500 grams Chicken (curry pieces)
- Get 1 Onion , finely chopped
- Make ready 3 Onion , cut in rings
- Take 1 Capsicum , large cubes
- Get 1 Green Chilli , finely chopped
- Make ready 2 - 3 Green Chilli , whole
- Prepare 2 tbsps Garlic Paste
- Make ready 10 cloves Garlic , finely chopped - 12
- Prepare 1/2 tsp Ginger , finely chopped
- Prepare 1.5 tsps Green Chilli Sauce (optional)
- Take 1 tbsp Vinegar
- Make ready 4 tbsps Soya Sauce
- Make ready 1 tbsps cornflour
- Prepare 1/4 cup White Oil
- Prepare 1/3 cup Water
- Make ready to taste Salt
Steps to make Chilli Chicken:
- 2-3 hours before you plan to start cooking, marinate the chicken with 2 tbsp of soya sauce and 1 tsp of salt. Let the chicken rest at room temperature.
- After 2-3 hours, heat a few tbsp of oil in a wok. Add in the capsicum pieces, and lightly saute. Remove, and keep aside.
- To the remaining oil, add the finely chopped onion, ginger, garlic, and green chilli. Saute on medium heat.
- Now add the ginger and garlic pastes. Stir for 2-3 mins.
- Finely add in the marinated chicken pieces to the wok. Mix well.
- Pour in the green chilli sauce, if using.
- Fry the chicken pieces till they slightly brown. This should take about 7-8 mins.
- Finally pour in the water. Add salt. Let the gravy simmer for 8-10mins.
- Once the chicken is almost done, add the vinegar and 1 tbsp soya sauce.
- In a separate bowl, mix the cornflour in 3-4 tbsp of water.
- Pour this into the gravy.
- Add in the capsicum.
- Now cook everything for 1-2 mins. The gravy will thicken.
- Your dish is now 90% done!
- Just before serving, in a frying pan, add oil and fry the onion rings and the whole green chillies.
- Add 1 tbsp of soya sauce and a bit of salt to enhance the colour and taste.
- Now add all this to the wok.
- Turn the stove on. Mix the gravy till everything becomes well incorporated.
- Your delicious chilli chicken is now ready! Enjoy!!
